HTML or HyperText Markup Language is the most basic building block of the Web. It defines the meaning and structure of web content. Other technologies besides HTML generally describe a web page’s appearance/presentation (CSS) or functionality/behavior (JavaScript).

HTML is used to create electronic documents (called pages) that are displayed on the World Wide Web. Each page contains a series of connections to other pages called links. Every link is a two-way street; it can take you to another page, and that page can take you back to the first one if you follow its link.

HTML documents are text files with special code that a web browser uses to correctly interpret and display the contents. The code comprises elements you can identify by the names enclosed in angle brackets (< and >). Most elements come in pairs that surround the content they affect: for example, <p>this is a paragraph</p>.

A few elements are empty and don’t have an end tag; they just stand for something on their own, like <hr> (a horizontal line). The syntax rules for HTML are relatively simple compared to those of other programming languages.

You don’t need to know HTML to use the World Wide Web, but if you want to develop your web pages, you will need to understand how it works or leave it to the experts at The AD Leaf!

How do HTML works?

HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. “Markup language” means that, rather than using a programming language to perform functions, HTML uses tags to identify different types of content and the purposes they each serve to the webpage.

Why use HTML for Your Business Website?

  • Easy to use and implement
  • Every website you open in your web browser, from social networks to music services, uses HTML
  • Ability to reference, enhance, and manipulate elements on a web page using CSS and JavaScript.
  • HTML text lets us indicate the roles of different structural elements to search engines and other services that index the content and summarize it for other users
  • Whether you want to land a job as a front-end or full-stack web developer or just want to dip your toe into programming, HTML is a natural place to start.

Is HTML a Front-end or Backend?

HTML, CSS, and JavaScript are the languages used for front-end development. The structure, design, behavior, and content of everything seen on browser screens when websites, web applications, or mobile apps are opened up are implemented by Front End developers.
